Pasig's 'Pamanang Galing: Layag' showcases local talent
A night filled with music, culture, and the celebration of Pasigueño talents captivated the audience during the "Pamanang Galing ng Pasigueño: Layag" event held at the Tanghalang Rizal on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Layag is estimated to be one of the largest cultural presentations in the City of Pasig, where nearly 20 individuals and groups from Pasig showcased their excellence and talent.
To effectively narrate the past, present, and possible future of the City of Pasig, the performances were divided into four parts: "Ang Bayan ng Pasig," "Pasig sa Pananampalataya, Kultura, at Tradisyon," "Ang Diwa ng Pagbangon," and "Kapayapaan at Selebrasyon." Each group had a narrative, expertly presented by Dr. Nestor Castro and Mr. Jarred Echevarria, to weave the story and thematic connections of their performances.
The "Pamanang Galing Pasigueño: Layag" is one of the contributions of the Pasig City Government to the ongoing #PanahonNgPasigueño celebration, marking the city's 450th founding anniversary, along with the observance of the National Language Month in August and the upcoming "Nagsabado sa Pasig" on August 29.
The Pasig City Government, especially those who led the production of "Pamanang Galing ng Pasigueño: Layag," extends its heartfelt gratitude to the individuals and groups who dedicated their time and talent to make the event a resounding success. The performances featured Bb. Lorraine Jane Aquino, Sindaw Philippines Performing Arts Guild, Salayaw Dance Company, Santolan High School Balye sa Kalye Dance Troupe, Bb. Thea Edades, Rizal Technological University (RTU) Kultura Rizalia, Rizal High School Folkloric Dance Troupe, Batang Pineda, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) Himig Chorale, Caniogan Elementary School Teachers’ Choir, Bb. Aya Camille Porral, Bb. Ara Caress Porral, RTU Tunog Rizalia Rondalla, representatives from Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Pasig Parish Youth Ministry G. Joshua Flores and G. Kreilan Geronimo, G.
