Barangay achieves drug-cleared status: A monumental victory for Pasig City

Barangay Sto. Tomas, along with Barangay San Miguel, has been declared drug-cleared, signifying a monumental event in Pasig's battle against illegal drugs. Led by Kap Eya Lati Raymundo, the achievement is a testament to the tireless efforts of the local government and law enforcement agencies in combating the drug problem in the area.

The road to this drug-cleared status was not an easy one, as the barangay had a historical context involving the infamous Pasig shabu tiangge raid of 2006. The tiangge, located just a few hundred meters from City Hall, was raided by the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force. However, the LGU's actions immediately after the raid raised eyebrows, as the crime scene was dismantled without coordination with the Task Force.

The drug-cleared status of Barangay Sto. Tomas is a result of reaching the parameters set by the Dangerous Drugs Board and validation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, with the support of the PNP and PCADAO. This achievement is a reminder that the fight against illegal drugs is far from over, and it demands continued vigilance and unwavering support from both the local government and the community.

Congratulations are also extended to Barangay San Miguel for being among those recognized for their efforts in the fight against illegal drugs.

Moving forward, Pasig City remains committed to supporting law enforcement agencies and further strengthening their demand-side reduction programs. This victory in Barangay Sto. Tomas serves as an inspiration for other communities in the city to join hands in creating a drug-free environment for their residents, making Pasig a safer and more vibrant place for everyone.
