Pasig to raise salaries of street sweepers
Around 215 street sweepers will get a salary increase starting January 2022, the Pasig City local government said in a report by Manila Bulletin.
During Monday’s (Dec. 27) flag ceremony, Mayor Vico Sotto said the street sweepers from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office/Solid Waste Management Office (CENRO/SWMO) whose current salary is only P5,000 to P8,000 will be increased to P12,000 per month.
Sotto said the street sweepers can now work full-time or for eight hours a day from the previous four hours per day effective next year.
The city mayor said the salary hike is in recognition of their hard work and for being a significant partner of the community.
“Napaka-importante na ibigay rin ng pamahalaan sa inyo ang benepisyo na nararapat at yung tama, (It’s important for the local government to give our street sweepers the recognition and benefits they deserve)” Sotto said.
In the new Job Order status, the daily rate of the street sweepers will become P547 from P250 to P400, making their gross salary P12,000.
