Pasig holds parenting webinar
Pasig City on Thursday held an online parenting workshop as it recognized the major role of parents in the education of their children especially this school year.
Mayor Vico Sotto said parents play a big responsibility in ensuring that the education of their children continue this upcoming school year amidst the challenges caused by the health crisis.
“Sa darating na bagong school year, malaki ang responsibilidad ng mga magulang para makasiguro tayong tuloy-tuloy ang edukasyon ng mga anak nila (In the coming school year, parents will have a big responsibility to ensure that their children continue their education),” Sotto said.
As face-to-face training is still prohibited, the workshop was held through video conferencing app Zoom and live-streamed on Facebook.
The mayor said another webinar session will be held on Saturday for another batch of parents of public school students in the city.
“By school po ang training pero bukas naman ang FB Live sa publiko – abangan sa Pasig City Public Information Office page (The training is by school but FB Live is open to the public – watch for the Pasig City Public Information Office page,” he said.
For School Year 2020-2021, the Department of Education (DepEd) will be implementing a distancing learning modality amidst the threat of the coronavirus pandemic.
Instead of physically going to school to learn, students will be taught about their lessons through a combination of online classes and learning modules.
“First time nating gagawin ito. Hindi magiging madali pero basta’t nagtutulungan at nagkakaisa tayong lahat mapagtatagumpayan din natin ito (This is our first time to do this. It will not be easy but as long as we all work together and unite we can overcome it as well),” Sotto said in his message during the workshop.
Sotto expressed gratitude to parents who participated in the online seminar, as well as to the DepEd and Synergeia Foundation for facilitating the training.
“Sana ay nakatulong po ito sa inyo tungo sa pagiging isang #NanayTeacher o #TatayTeacher (I hope this helped you toward becoming a #NanayTeacher or #TatayTeacher),” he said.
